Let’s Celebrate Rain Day!

Rainy days carry negative connotations for many people. Who doesn’t remember some great outdoor activities being cancelled because of ‘bad’ weather? A rainy day can ruin the best barbeque, can take the joy out of hiking and make your daily commute significantly less convenient. BUT: Our live on this earth is dependent on rain, and that’s why I want to celebrate Rain Day with you guys!

«Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain.»

SEVEN REASONS WHY I LOVE RAINY DAYS

1. Cooling-Down

A rainy day enables my body to finally cool down after the crazy heatwave we just had. The month of July broke the heat record in Switzerland with 38°C and the heat went on for three weeks! Now I’m enjoying the rainy days more than ever because I don’t have to feel like a sweaty monster anymore.

2. Raindrop Races

I guess most children do that – sit in a train on a rainy day and bet on a specific raindrop to make it down that window first… I still like raindrop races today, they’re fun!

3. Motivation & Productivity

There’s few things I hate more than having to study on a beautiful day, knowing that everyone else went swimming. On a rainy day, I feel much more motivated and it usually increases my productivity quite significantly. A rainy day provides the perfect occasion to get stuff done, clean up your room or bake a cake!

4. Colourful Umbrellas

It frustrates me when I see hundreds of people running through the rain with their black umbrellas. I always take a grey day as an opportunity to colour up the world a little bit, so I usually go for a bright and shiny umbrella.

5. You Know What to Wear

A rainy day often is a cold day, so it’s obvious that you have to wear long pants and at least some long-sleeved top. You don’t have to flip through your clothes ten times to find the best flowery dress…

6. The Smell of Fresh Rain

Especially after a hot day, the smell of fresh rain on the hot soil is incredible! It sometimes gets me excited enough to run out in a bikini and do a little happy dance.

7. Hanging Around

Rainy days are the perfect excuse to hang around and do nothing all day. You planned to go jogging, but now that it’s raining, it’s okay to stay in front of your TV. And at the end of the day, you won’t even have a bad conscience!

Now I’d love to hear about you: Do you like rainy days just like I do or do you despise them and claim you’ll move to a less rainy country asap?
