You Can Read 50 Books a Year by Reading 2 Pages a Day

I set my 2020 Goodreads challenge to 50 books. How about you?

If you want to read more in 2020, you ought to set yourself a goal on Goodreads. It motivates me to have a specific goal, which is why I set a Goodreads challenge every single year.

I don’t always achieve it, though. Last year, I failed my challenge by almost 50%. Yet I’m still aiming to read 50 books again this year.

Two Pages a Day

Part of the reason I didn’t hit my goal last year was that there were too many days on which I didn’t read at all.

50 books are a lot!

If you want to achieve that within a year, you’d better use every single day.

This brings me to my only new year’s resolution for 2020: I am going to read a minimum of two pages per day, no matter what.

Two pages a day is ridiculously little. There’s no excuse to skip it. Even for a dense book, reading two pages will take me a maximum of ten minutes.

The secret about a tiny goal like this is that you are likely to read more than the minimum you set for yourself. Reading is just like writing or working out. The hard part is to get started. Once you’ve opened the book, it’s easy…
